Jyubei
Jyubei the Corpse Dealer is an information broker, a bounty-hunter's best friend and a dealer in the bones of various demons which are likely sold to people like Sango and Gyokuto in order to manufacture weapons. He works alongside the little tanuki Takechiyo and is able to share intelligence with the half-demon princesses when they are searching for various targets. Jyubei is shown to have a good relationship with people from all walks of life including the pirate Riku, the wolf demon Yawaragi and the human demon slayers such as Kohaku and Hisui.
It is through his friendship with Yawaragi that he manages to make Moroha become his indentured servant. He pays Yawaragi a huge sum towards her purchase of a key to liberate her from the iron rat armor this is going to eventually crush her to death. In exchange Jyubei receives the services of Moroha who now must pay off the debt incurred by her former master, Yawaragi. Moroha bristles at having to work for Jyubei and often becomes frustrated when her hard work in killing a target winds up being all for naught when she loses the heads she needs as proof of her triumphs.
Jyubei shows some fondness for Moroha however. When Yawaragi intended to leave Moroha in Jyubei's care, he insisted that Yawaragi leave behind the Kurikaramaru sword that she had originally promised to her protoge.
The Meaning Behind the Name - 獣兵衛
Jyubei is written with the kanji "獣" which means "beast" or "animal" with "兵衛" meaning "middle palace guard".
