Ichigo
In a previous life the young girl named Ichigo was in fact Otome Rokudo, the mother of Rinne and wife of Sabato. Otome and Sabato fell in love, and despite Sabato's many less-than-desirable traits, the love they had for one another was honest and true. Otome was a platinum level Shinigami known as "the Legendary Shinigami Maiden" because of her prodigious natural talent. Otome's life was a happy one, as she enjoyed a close friendship with Tamako and enjoyed motherhood. However, due to an infortunate accident she was pushed down the Sanzu River to the Wheel of Reincarnation where she began ended her life as Otome and began a series of new lives before finally coming back to Earth as Ichigo.
As an elementary schooler Ichigo and her parents moved to the neighborhood where Sakura lives and, due to a spirit living in her new home, comes into contact with Rinne, and soon after, Sabato. Sabato never knew why his wife mysteriously left him and has secretely tried to track down her Scythe and Shinigami ID in hopes of using it's photograph to create a doll copy of her and learn why she left. This copy of Otome ultimately encounters Ichigo and triggers the child's memories of her past life. Knowing her history with both Sabato and Rinne, she becomes involved in their lives once more. Sabato has moved on romantically but promises to continue to visit her when he can, while she has a second chance to be a mother to Rinne, often giving him a much-appreciated allowance.
In her new life she still is spiritually sensitive and can see and interact with ghosts, which allows her to assist Rinne in his work. In her adventures she meets Shoma who quickly develops a crush on her and whom she enjoys spending time with as she missed those years with her own son.
The Meaning Behind the Name - 苺 / 六道乙女
Rokudo (六道) is a Buddhist term referring to the "six realms" (Deva realm, Asura realm, Human realm, Animal realm, Hungry Ghost realm, Naraka realm). Otome (乙女) means "young girl". Once she was reborn Otome became Ichigo (苺) which means "strawberry" and is a common unisex name in Japanese.
