Rumiko Takahashi Pays Tribute to Mitsuru Adachi

In
Gessan 2025 Vol. 2, released January 10th, a number of artists, including Rumiko Takahashi, Gosho Aoyama, Kazuhiko Shimamoto, Hiroyuki Nishimori, Koji Kumeta, Tetsuya Chiba and Kenjiro Hata all contributed illustrations to pay tribute to Mitsuru Adachi for his 55th year in the manga industry.

Urusei Yatsura Seasons 3 and 4 Collection English Release
In disappointing news, Sentai Filmworks has announced that the second and concluding release of
Urusei Yatsura's recent anime adaptation will be released on April 29, 2025, however it will not include an English dub. Though they do not provide further context, it is presumed that the cost of dubbing the first release (which included Seasons/Cour 1 and 2) was not financially successful enough to warrant paying for a dub of the latter half of the series.

Takahashi, Voice Actors Visit Cat Cafe

Rumiko Takahashi, her assistants, Megumi Hayashibara, Rei Sakuma and Kikuko Inoue all attended the "Cat Cafe" pop-up restaurant in Shibuya. Megumi Hayashibara
shared photos of the various dishes she sampled and Rumiko Takahashi signed one of the displays (pictured above).

Viz Annouces COLORS English Language Release
Viz Media have announced that they will publish an English lanaguage edition of Rumiko Takahashi's artbook,
COLORS: 1978-2024, in Autumn of 2025. The book will contain a ribbon bookmark, a long interview with Rumiko Takahashi (which we have
translated here) and many pages of color artwork and illustrations.

Takahashi Art Comes to San Francisco
A gallery show entitled "The Art of Manga" will feature 700 original drawings by mangaka including Rumiko Takahashi, Hirohiko Araki, Eichiro Oda, Jiro Taniguchi, Tetsuya Chiba, Fujio Akatsuka, Mari Yamazaki and many others will go on display from September 27, 2025 through January 25, 2026 at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, California. Frieren Comes to Visit

Rumiko Takahashi was excitedly tweeting today about Frieren coming to visit her home today. Frieren, the main character from
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (葬送のフリーレン) by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. The
Frieren Twitter account was also posting photographs of the visit. No word on if any of the
Frieren's creators were on hand or if it was just the doll that paid the visit. The official Twitter of
Frieren has shown the doll visiting various locations eaech day this month.

Urusei Yatsura Anime Exhibition Continues
In
Shonen Sunday this week there is an ad for the continuation of the
Urusei Yatsura anime exhibition from August 2024. The exhibition promises a new, life-sized Lum sculpture, objects and artwork from the anime's production as well as an original video for the exhibition, "Girl Hunt with Ataru" (あたると一緒にガールハント‼/Ataru to issho ni gaaru hantto!!), which will also be the theme of the exhibition's layout. The tour will be at the Niigata Manga and Anime Information Center from April 5th to May 6th and then Messe Shizuoka West Building, 2nd floor, 2nd small exhibition hall from July 26th to August 17th.

Tabekko Animals: The Movie (たべっ子どうぶつ THE MOVIE/Tabekko Dobutsu: The Movie) a special image of the Tabekko animals with animals from
Ranma 1/2 illustrated in the Tabekko style has been released. Tabekko Animals are a Japanese brand of animal cookies that were created in 1978 and are featuring in an animated film to be released on May 1, 2025.

Shonen Sunday has come around again this week, on March 21st, the editors, artists and assistants gathered to celebrate the magazine we all love so much. Ranma 1/2 anime event is going to be held on June 22nd in Shinjuku, Ward 9. The event will feature new goods, a live dubbing session, and a preview of the second season of

Ranma 1/2 Season 2 Event

At 7:00 pm Tokyo time an event featuring Kappei Yamaguchi, Noriko Hidaka, Megumi Hayashibara, and Rei Sakuma was held to introduce the new season of
Ranma 1/2. They called a special guest onto the stage who was revealed to be Toshihiko Seki who is returning as the voice of Mousse. The series will return to Netflix in October of this year. Many other cast were announced at the event:
- Toshihiko Seki as Mousse
- Kaori Nazuka as Ukyo Kuonji
- Kazuhiko Inoue as Happosai
- Ako Mayama as Cologne
- Akira Ishida as Hikaru Gosunkugi
Additionally, the animation studio handling the show will be Mappa, Konosuke Uda will direct the show with character designs by Hiromi Taniguchi. Kaoru Wada will be doing the music for the new series. The opening and closing theme songs will be announced soon.

Kaori Nazuka Comments on Ukyo Casting
Kaori Nazuka has been cast as Ukyo in season two of
Ranma 1/2, after the passing of Ukyo's original voice actress, Hiromi Tsuru, in 2017. Nazuka posted on her Twitter account, "I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely love the original work✨It's like a dream to be able to take part as my beloved Ucchan in a work that I've read and watched over and over since I was little, and I'm so excited♡
However, as much as I loved the original manga and anime... I'm also a bit worried about whether I'm really the right person for the role...💦
But, but! Since they've entrusted me with this role, I'll do my best to face it with the feeling that my love for Ucchan is second to none!!
I will do my best to portray Ucchan, who was so cherished by Tsuru-san, in a way that makes everyone and Tsuru-san happy!!
